Room 3 Science!

On the 24th July, 2012, Room 3 went to Mr.Brown's class (Room 1) to learn science. We learnt about buoyancy. Every thing in the world has buoyancy. Buoyancy is if something can float. (A balloon has alot of buoyancy.) Then we learnt about density. If something is LESS dense than water, it will float. If it is MORE dense than water, it will sink. Things that are LESS dense than water are buoyant. Then, we tested some things. We learnt that paper, gluesticks, felts, containers, and plastic pencil cases are very buoyant.

Oaklands School Assembly 28 June

At our Assembly on the 28 June Oaklands School  their learning.
We shared our learning about our Term 2 Inquiry using technology.  We visited classes around the school to see what they had been designing and making around the theme of communication.
Many classes had designed new cellphones, cameras and TVs to be used in the future.  They needed to show how they had remodelled the communication tool to satisfy a need they had found.

Pencil Drawings with Mr Shaskey.

In the hall on Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th of July, Mr Shaskey help each team in drawing and sketching. Each team followed Mr Shaskey and all did a really great job! We learnt some great stuff and we're going to show what we learnt. First we learnt how to set the limits. Setting the limits is making sure that what we're drawing is going to be the right size. Have you ever copied still life or someone elses picture and you drew it too large? I know I have! We sketched lightly to make sure it wasn't to big or to small. Then, we drew the outline. Again we lightly sketched, but this time we drew the shapes and where it was going to be. After that, we drew the big shapes, like how the shape going to end up looking. Next, we shaded and drew the details. Lastly, we put a black line around the edge to draw your attention to the picture.
